Endowed Award of Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology

Congratulations to Hope Bauer (MD candidate 2018) who is this year’s recipient of the Bruce Drukker Endowed Award of Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Hope is a Traverse City CHM student pursuing a career in OB/GYN.

During her 3rd year as a medical student, Hope received Honors in 5 of the 6 core clerkships and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Hope has been involved in several research projects, most notably as the primary investigator, studying the effects of EEG biofeedback and lavender aromatherapy on migraineurs. She was also a student investigator on a project that investigated the effect that thrombospondin-2 has on heterotopic ossification in a mouse model. Most recently, Hope has led a student team working to investigate the professional interests of rural high school students to determine how to better encourage students to enter medical professions. Hope has given both oral podium and poster presentations of her research findings on numerous occasions, including national conferences.

Hope has applied to many prestigious institutions for Ob/Gyn residency training and we trust she will have a successful Match Day on March 16. We are proud to honor Hope Bauer with the 2018 Bruce Drukker Endowed Award of Excellence. Hope will be receiving $2,000.00.
