Cris Meghea received an R21 award from the NIH Fogarty International Center and National Cancer Institute for his project titled: MOBILE HEALTH INTERVENTION FOR FAMILY SMOKING CESSATION IN ROMANIA. This two-year award was issued December 2017. The objectives of this project are to determine in a randomized controlled pilot trial (RCT) whether a mHealth couples intervention shows promise in increasing smoking cessation among pregnant couples who smoke and to build mHealth research capacity in Romania. The project builds on his ongoing NIH-funded Quit Together (Renunt in Doi) pregnancy smoking cessation counseling intervention, a US-Romania partnership, and his mHealth intervention to prevent postnatal smoking relapse, a US-Romania-Belgium partnership.
