Dr. Luke is collaborating with the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) in the development of a series of projects to evaluate the health of men, women, and their children after infertility treatment, including linkage of the SART database with State Birth Defects and Cancer Registries.

Current projects in this area include 1) linkage of all births and fetal deaths in Massachusetts between 2004 and 2011 (approximately 18,000 infertility births and 380,000 total births) to the SART database to study the effect of infertility diagnoses and treatments on child health at birth through age three; and 2) a parallel study tracking women's health from 2004 to 2012 among three groups of Massachusetts residents: women who were treated with ART (~23,000), women without ART but other subfertility indicators (~6,400), and women without subfertility indicators (~488,600). In a third study we propose linking the SART data 2004-2013 to the birth and cancer registries of 20 states and New York City, to create a cohort of approximately 30 million children, including over 467,000 conceived by ART to evaluate the association between assisted reproduction and the risk for childhood cancer.
