Deterioration of oocyte quality and ovarian function due to chemotherapeutic agents.

Perturbations in the ovarian microenvironment leading to primary ovarian insufficiency in classic galactosemia.

The long-term goal of this research is to develop fertility preservation and treatment strategies to extend fertility in women facing ovarian dysfunction due to cancer treatments; inherited genetic disorders such as classic galactosemia or environmental exposures.

She is an attending physician at The Fertility Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan and a clinical adjunct assistant professor in the department of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive biology, College of Human Medicine, Michigan State University.

She also studied how D-galactose and its metabolites, galactitol and galactose 1-phosphate adversely affect oocyte quality and embryo development in classic galactosemia. She received the prestigious Society of Reproductive Investigation’s president’s award in 2016 for this work.
