Professor Guo is an Associate Editor for Human Reproduction, and was appointed a member of the Board of Trustees of the World Endometriosis Society in September 2011. He is internationally recognized as an authority on the epigenetic mechanisms that impact gene expression in endometriosis. His appointment in the Department compliments much of the research that is currently been undertaken by members of department. In addition his appointment will extend our international ties within China, specifically with a well-established research University.
Professor Guo has been a member of Faculty 1000 in Medicine since 2007. Trained as quantitative geneticist, his current research interest is in the pathogenesis of endometriosis and adenomyosis. He has published over 100 research papers in international journals, and has given lectures at Oxford University, University of Helsinki, Harvard University, Tottori University, Sohag University, National Cheng Kung University and other academic and research institutions. He served as a grant reviewer for the National Institute of Health of US, the Wellcome Trust of United Kingdom, the Agency for Science, Technology and Research‚Äôs (A*STAR) Biomedical Research Council in Singapore, and Austrian Science Fund (FWF). Working with Professors Tatsuku Harada, Young Min Choi, Sean Tsai, and Aydin Arici, he organized the first Asian Conference on Endometriosis in 2010.
Dr. Guo received his Master of Medicine degree from Fudan University Shanghai Medical College, and his and MSc and PhD from the University of Washington. He was Assistant and then Associate Research Scientist at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota, and a tenured Full Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He also served a three-year term as director of the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecologic Research, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.
