ObGyn Faculty member awarded best paper by the American Association for Cancer Education 2008
Dr. Karen Patricia Williams from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology along with Athur Mabiso, MS, David Todem, PhD, Adnan Hammad, PhD, Yolanda Hill-Ashford, MSW, Hiam Hamade, MA, RN, Gloria Palamisono, MA, Murlisa Robinson-Lockett, MA, were honored with the R. Davilene Carter Presidential Award for best paper given at the American Association for Cancer Education 2008 Annual meeting. The paper is titled “Tailored intervention shows ethnic differences in knowledge of breast cancer modalities” and it will be soon submitted for publication. This paper is the result of a collaborative research investigation between Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Epidemiology departments at Michigan State University, the Karmanos Cancer Institute, Detroit, the Wellness Promotion at Detroit and the Community Center for Health and Social Services, Inc. at Detroit.
