Ob/Gyn Faculty and Student Awards
- Joel Maurer, MD was accepted from a pool of national candidates to participate in the APGO/Solvay Scholars Program for faculty development in obstetrics and gynecology. He is a member of the 2007-2008 class, completing the program of study this past March, 2008. His scholars project entitled, "Papanicolaou smear testing: Patient knowledge and test result preferences," was presented March 5-8 at the 2008 CREOG & APGO Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL.
Dr. Maurer was also honored by CHM's Lansing Campus Graduating Class of 2007 with the Excellence in Teaching Award for Clinical Faculty.
- Steven Hickner, MD has been announced our new APGO/Solvay Scholar for Faculty Development in Obstetrics and Gynecology for 2008-2009 Program. Dr. Hickner is the Clerkship and Program Director for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at the Grand Rapids campus.
The Solvay Scholars program provides an opportunity to focus on educational research in Obstetrics, Gynecology. Graduates of the program will have enhanced skills in teaching students and residents in the field. Each Scholar will also complete an educational research project over the 18 months of the program and present the project at the annual APGO/CREOG meeting in March 2009
- Kristine Vandermark, MD. Dr. Vandermark was honored by the College of Human Medicine in the 2007 with the Excellence in Teaching Award for Clinical Faculty. Dr. Vandermark is the Clerkship Director for the Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Program in the Upper Peninsula.
