Dr. Dong Ryul Lee is a Professor of the Department of Biomedical Science, CHA University in Seoul, Korea and also Director of CHA Stem Cell Institute. Dr. Lee received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Biology, Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea in 1999 and performed his postdoctoral training in the Department of Animal Science, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY (1999-2002). Dr. Lee also served as a Scientific Director at CHA Fertility Center in CHA Gangnam Medical Center since 2001.
Dr. Lee’s research fields are the physiology of gametes and somatic cells in mammalian gonads and the stemness of embryonic stem cells (ESCs). Especially, he and his team have recently established human somatic cell nuclear transfer-derived stem cells (SCNT-SCs) using adult fibroblasts. Also, he has focused on the production of germ cells and somatic cells from pluripotent stem cells.
