About Us

In accordance with the Land Grant tradition at Michigan State University, The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology in the College of Human Medicine supports the integrated, community based clinical training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In partnership with our community campuses across the state including Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Saginaw and the Upper Peninsula, our students are trained by over 300 College of Human Medicine faculty statewide. This rich history of community faculty engagement of our students is fundamental to our national recognition as a leading community based medical school. Some 28 of these physicians have been recognized nationally as Americas "Best Doctors".

Our third year clerkship program has been among the best rated clerkships at the college for the last 10 years. The Department offers to our students unique educational programs and clinical training that reflect the community based approach of the college, emphasizing excellence, hands on experiences, mentorship, diversity and blended learning resources that deliver a high quality medical education.

The Department is affiliated with four ABOG approved Residency Programs in Obstetrics and Gynecology including Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Saginaw. To learn more about the different residencies please visit each of the communities. Although each residency has its own unique history and tradition, affiliation in the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Network (MSU-CHM AOGRN) provides opportunity to engage in synergistic educational and research collaborations. MSU-CHM AOGRN represents one of the nation's largest university affiliated networks in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

As we look to the future, our developing community negagements for medical student and resident education will provide the Department unique opportunities to advance its Research initiatives to community base translation.
